A New Gun!

Noah has been asking for a gun for months... so Cam finally broke down and got him a pellet gun. Talk about an excited boy!

His favorite part of the whole thing is the safety glasses!

We took him out gopher hunting, but all Noah managed to shoot was his Dad in the leg! (In his defense, his Dad was stupid enough to tell him to shoot the fence post which resulted in a misdirected ricochet...)
Cam dug out a pile of targets so I imagine I'll be spending a lot of time in the next few months loading pellets into the gun and supervising target practice!

Sad day...

Josh was injured today... he has broken the growth plate in his leg near the knee... he'll be in a cast from toe to hip for many many weeks and will likely be finished racing for the season...

He is devastated (along with the rest of the family) and it is heartbreaking to see his dreams and goals for this season get dashed...

No he didn't crash... we went out to practice and he stepped into a hole when he put his foot down to start his bike... he lost his balance and fell over and twisted his knee until it snapped....

I'll update with a pic when he's not in so much pain (and in a better mood...)

For right now we'd apprciate your prayers...

And any tips as to how to deal with the itchyness under the cast... he feels like he's going crazy!!!

Undefeated!

Just wanted to tell everyone that Josh has finished the SOAB Spring series with a perfect record in his 50cc class! He ran every moto in the first place spot and finished first overall in the series! Way to go Josh!

He ended up 8th in the series in the 65cc class, and 11th in the 85cc class (on his 65cc bike!) Nothing to sneeze at being one of the youngest riders in the class!

He's done his very best in every single race and all the hard work has paid off!

Big Scare!

Noah fell over while riding his pedal bike.... like not even a crash... just kinda tipped over... normally wouldn't think much of it...

Except this time he punctured his neck (below the jaw where the you-know-what-vein is located) with the handle bar of the bike (the grip is ripped off of part of it) and came screaming holding his neck with blood coming out between his fingers...

So I guess you know what I was thinking... the WORST...

I grabbed a facecloth with one hand to apply pressure and dialed the phone with the other and didn't even look at the wound till we were in the ER with the doctor! Yes I was scared of what I would see...

Thanks to the Lord and His miracles, he missed all the major blood supply and is resting comfortably with some fancy blue stitches... he was so brave!

I gotta tell you tho... I could see his pulse pumping inside that hole and it kinda freaked me out!!!

Unfortunately because of it being such a blunt end there was a lot of skin that was too damaged to repair and had to be cut off so he'll have a bit of a scar... but they were able to close the surface skin a bit with stitches too...

The photo is from my phone so you can't really see much, but here he is once they got him all cleaned up and ready for stitches...

I'll add some more pics once we get the super-sticky-old-school band aid removed!

I gotta keep this kid on the Motocross track where it's safe!

Will you still call me Superman?

I just love this song by Three Doors Down... and I decided this photo of Noah wearing his new cape would suit it perfectly! I took this photo of him in April when we went to Six Flags Over Texas...
